Minas Morgul 600 Point Army List

This army list was my first Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game army list. It is a Mordor list using the Minas Morgul roster. I played this list at Mayhem in the Mountains in 2010 and for about a year before that. This army list was created with Army Builder.

This picture is of alot of Mordor figures, but not the exact army list described.

Army Strengths:

  • Terror - the Nazgul, Spectres and Black Numenoreans all cause Terror. This can disrupt your opponents ability to charge, allowing you to pick match ups to your advantage. The Nazgul's rule "Harbinger of Evil" drops your opponents courage by 1, making Terror even more effective.
  • The Spectres have a rule call "A Fell Light is in Them" that can allow you to move some of your opponents key models out of position. I like to use this on banner bearers or heroes.
  • Two Nazgul gives you quite a lot of spell casting.
  • High model count at 53 makes the army hard to break.
  • 16 orc trackers that hit on 4+ give the army decent archery, something a lot of Mordor armies lack.

Army Weaknesses:

  • The entire army, except for the heroes is Strength 3. This means killing defense 6 or higher models requires a roll of a 6.
  • Orc Trackers have defense 3, if the enemy gets them in melee they almost always die.
  • Learning to use the Nazgul's spells effectively can be a bit of a learning curve.
  • The Spectres can be highly annoying to some opponents, and can lead to reduced sportsmanship scores in extreme cases.
